本日は「木育」を推進されている一場木工所の寺河様とにいみ木のおもちゃの会代表の藤本様にお会いすることができました。
きっかけはジアウトレットで買い物をしているときのワークショップでした。子どもたちが喜びそうな木を使った活動をされていて、思わず足が止まり、参加させていただきました。私たちが行なったアクティビティの木のネックレスづくりは、その日一番娘たちのテンションが上がる時間となりました（笑）。しかも無料！

早速連絡を取らせていただき、本日お話を聞くことができました。お二人とも木育を通して、子どもたちの中に木や自然を大切にする気持ちを育み、優しいあったかい人に育ってほしいという熱い想いを持っていらっしゃり、保育や教育についてあれこれ話しているうちについつい長くおひきとめしてしまいました。
こちらで作られる木のおもちゃは一味違うもので、本来の木の魅力をそのまま子どもたちに届けたいという想いがこめられています。ぜひ本園でも取り入れさせていただきたいです。
特に印象的だったのが、木目や大きさ、形など、木のおもちゃはそれぞれ違ってそれぞれ特別だということ。そのそれぞれの個性やあたたかさが子どもたちにも伝われば素敵ですね。本園が大切にする多様性にもつながります。

みんなちがってみんないい！

Today I had a golden opportunity to meet and talk with Ms. Teragawa and Mr. Fujimoto, who promote “Tree Education” programs for young learners. This happened by coincidence when I was shopping at the outlet mall. They were holding a workshop for children by using wood to teach their concept. My daughters joined the activity and they totally loved it! It was also organized for free to my surprise!
I contacted them and was able to meet them at the end. They are both interested in nurturing children to develop the mindset of respecting nature and protecting trees. We had a long conversation about education and in the end, we had a fruitful time together.
The wooden toys they make are pretty special. They try to keep the original quality and attraction of the wood and do not process them too much.
The part where I was most impressed was the fact that they said that the wooden toys are all different. The wood grains the sizes, and the shapes are all different and special in unique ways.
The concept of respecting nature is linked with our preschool’s principle, which is respecting diversity.

We are all different and we are all special!
Together we make the world a beautiful place.
