大きいクラスの英語の活動です。映像を見ながら、「ジャックと豆の木」のお話を聞いています。先生は、映像をただ見せるだけでなく子ども達に英語のシャワーを浴びせながら大きな身振りで子ども達にお話を伝えています。子ども達は先生のお話に夢中です。

This is the 4 and 5 years old class during English activity time. They watched the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and expressed their understanding during question time. The teacher did not only show the animated video, but also, interacted with the children using big gestures during English immersion approach to check the understanding of the children in an engaging manner.

現在、国際バカロレアの学びの一貫で「光」について学んでいます。これはその光について学んでいる様子です。悪戦苦闘してやっと付いたミラーボールの光に大喜びしている子ども達です。

This activity is about an inquiry into how light works. The children were overjoyed by the rotating light brought to class and feverishly wondered as they struggled to figure out how it worked without giving up.

部屋を暗くすると「光」がはっきり見えてきました。「光」の不思議やきれいな色合いに子ども達は目をキラキラさせています。

When the room was darkened, the children could clearly see the beautiful, bright colours of light. The wonder of light and beautiful scenery glowed on the faces of the children and their eyes sparkled with great joy.

この「光」の活動から子ども達は気づきや思いを話し合いで伝え合います。子ども達のワクワクする気持ちや探求心を大切にしながら次への活動に繋げていきます。さあ次はどんな楽しい活動が待っているでしょうか。

From the inquiry, the children were able to think and share ideas and thoughts about how light works among themselves. With the exciting and curious mindsets that the children displayed through the inquiry, we hope to continue to empowering them to enjoy their inquiry, agency and concept-based learning in the next activities. What kind of interesting activity are we going to see the next time? Fingers crossed!
