つきのひかり国際保育園が、認可保育園としては日本初の国際バカロレア(International Baccalaureate=IB)候補園になりました！

開園前から準備を進めてきた国際バカロレア申請が、ようやく実を結びました！認可保育園としては日本初となる国際バカロレア候補園となることができました。

国際バカロレア(IB)は「国際的な視野(Internationally Minded)」「探究的な学び(Inquiry Learning)」「批判的思考(Critical Thinking)」「学習者像(Learner Profile)」「生涯学習(Lifelong Learner)」など、様々な特色を持った国際教育プログラムです。

開園前には、シンガポールからIBアジア太平洋地域リージョナルチームのトップであるレオン氏と、ディベロップメントマネージャーである星野氏に、建築途中の園舎にお越しいただいたこともありました。

私は国内外のIB研修やシンポジウムに参加させていただき、候補園申請に活用させていただきました。

また、現在メルボルン大学院でも専門として学んでいるので、こういった経験を実際にIBの実践に役立てていけるよう努めてまいります。

候補園になったということは、まだスタートラインに立ったということに過ぎません。これから認定園になれるよう、IB本部との連携、カリキュラム作成、全職員での研修など、日本人の先生も外国人の先生も一丸となってがんばっていかないといけません。

日本初ということで、手探りの状態です。課題もたくさんあります。一つずつ乗り越え、将来世界で活躍することのできる子どもたちを育てていきたいと思います。

Moonlight International Preschool (MIP) is now the first authorized nursery (Ninka Hoikuen) in Japan as an International Baccalaureate(IB) Candidate School!

We have been preparing for the candidate authorization even before MIP opened, and with the support from many people, fortunately, MIP has become an IB Candidate School.

Before MIP opened, we had very important guests to see the construction in progress. They were the head of Development and Recognition – IB Asia Pacific Regional Team, Ms. Stefanie Leong, and the Development Manager, Ms. Ayumi Hoshino.

I was able to attend IB workshops and symposiums both in Japan and abroad and was able to utilize the experience gained for the IB candidacy. Currently, I am studying IB education at the University of Melbourne, so we are hoping to find ways to efficiently implement the program.

IB aims at developing learners to acquire certain features. Some of these are internationally mindedness, inquiry learning, critical thinking, learner profile, lifelong learner, and so on.

Being a candidate school means we are only at the start line. To become an IB world school, we have to collaborate with the IB organization, put the curriculum in place, all members of staff need to participate in training, and so on. All staff, including international teachers and Japanese teachers, need to work together to attain the goal.

As we are the first in Japan to become both authorized by the Japanese government and the IB, everything is new and there are lots of challenges. We will overcome these challenges to raise children who can glow globally in the future.
