最新の文科省の調査によると、全国の中学生の英検３級レベルの取得率が４２．６％、高校生の準２級レベルの取得率が４０．２％ということです。

ちなみに全国の英語担当教師英語力を見ると、中学校英語教師で英検準１級を取得している数は全体の３６．２％だそうです。高等学校の英語教師で６８．２％です。英検１級のデータはありませんが、一般的な合格率は１割程度ということなので、実際にデータをとれば１０％を切るのかもしれません。

According to research conducted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, the level of English ability of 42.6% junior high school students nationwide is Eiken 3rd level. For high school students, 40.2 % passed Eiken pre-2nd level.

Looking at the records of junior high school English teachers, 36.2 % passed Eiken pre-1st level. For high school English teachers, 68.2% passed. There was no data regarding Eiken 1st level, but the passing rate is about 10%, so the actual number of English teachers who have Eiken 1st level is probably less than 10%.

英語の教員でさえ取得するのが難しい英検１級と準１級。その英検１級に２３名、準1級に１４２名合格した中学高等学校が広島県にあります。それも、普通の日本の小学校を卒業して英語力がほぼゼロで入学した生徒さんも多数とのことです。

英語力の伸びがとてつもないだけでなく、国内外の名門大学へも多数合格しているそうです。

It is difficult even for English subject teachers to pass Eiken 1st and pre-1st level tests.

There is a school in Hiroshima, where 23 of the students passed the Eiken 1st level and 142 students also passed the pre-1st level. Many of the students spoke zero English when they first enrolled in the school.

The school is called AICJ Junior & Senior High School. This school implements English immersion education as well as the International Baccalaureate program.

先生によると、AICJの生徒さんの高い英語力のヒミツは、やはり外国人教員による質の高い英語教育と、常に英語にふれることのできる環境だそうです。また、英単語の学習など、本人の努力ももちろん大切とのことです。

ちなみに日本英語検定協会によると、学習開始時期の違いによって、英検１級や準１級の上位級取得率に違いがあるそうです。やはり英語の早期学習は効果的であるとのデータがあります。

By the way, research by Eiken Foundation of Japan indicates that the earlier one starts studying English, the more able one becomes in passing the higher grades such as Eiken 1st level or pre 1st level.
