今回私は９月２７日（金）～２９日（日）まで、横浜インターナショナルスクールで行われた国際バカロレアアジア太平洋研修会に参加させていただきました。国際バカロレア機構による、いろいろなプログラムに合わせた様々なワークショップが開催されました。研修会は大盛況で、国内外から２５０人以上の参加者がいました。

I had the opportunity to attend an IB Asia Pacific Regional Workshop held at Yokohama International School (YIS) from September 27 – 29. There were series of workshops organized by IB to cater for the various IB programmes. The various workshops were attended by 250 international participants from far and near.

私はプライマリーイヤーズプログラムという３歳から１２歳までを対象にした国際バカロレアプログラムの中の、幼児教育に特化した内容について学びました。また、横山インターナショナルスクールの校内で、様々な教室環境や図工室などの特別な部屋、子どもたちの作品を見せていただきました。子どもたちの探究心や自主性を尊重している一端を見ることができました。

I was enlightened about how to make the PYP happen in the early years (preschool 3 – 6 years old). I also had the chance to see the preschool classroom settings of YIS, an exhibition of artifacts, art room and unique works of some preschoolers that showed inquiry and agency.

提供された食事がとてもおいしく、バランスのとれたものでした。掲示物でも食育の大切さを伝えています。

The food served in-between sessions and during lunchtimes were incredibly delicious and well-balanced. I was intrigued by the food for thought in this picture at the cafeteria.

この研修で知り合うことのできた先生が偶然広島叡智学園の先生でした。同じ広島からいらしていて、奇遇でした！

Interestingly, a participant who exchanged pleasantries with me during the workshop breaks happens to teach the Middle Years Programme (MYP) at Hiroshima Global Academy (HiGA). What a coincidence!

また、他にも静岡で幼児教育に携わっている先生方ともコネクションができました。

I also made connections with these Japanese preschool teachers from Shizuoka Prefecture who attended one of the workshops to broaden the idea of IB education.

今回の研修で学んだ知識と経験を、本園の先生方と共有し、子どもたちによりよい保育・教育が提供できるよう努めてまいりたいと思います。

I hope to put into practice the knowledge and experience gained from the IB Making the PYP Happen in Early Years soon, as well as share the valuable information gained with all the teachers at MIP so that our total dream of delivering quality learning and teaching will come true.

子どもたちの自主性を重んじる国際バカロレアの探究的な学びを実践できるよう、教え方と学び方を改めていきたいと思います。私は、「学び」とは学び手に責任と選択の自由があるべきだと考えます。そのため、子どもたちとより対話をしていく中で、興味を刺激し、子どもたち自身がより学びたいと思えるような、子ども中心のプライマリーイヤーズプログラムの特色を生かした教育をしていきたいと考えます。そうすることで、子どもの興味関心にもとづいた活動を楽しみ、よりよい学びにむすびつけ、国際バカロレアの目指す学習者像を実現していくことにつながっていくことでしょう。

I am looking forward to redefining the learning and teaching to reflect the IB principles of inquiry-based for preschoolers to have agency. I believe learning is the responsibility and choice of learners. Therefore, I plan to have more discussions and provoke curiosity among the children at MIP in a PYP child-centered learning, where all (or most of) the information will come from kids learning. That will empower the kids to realize that they can learn through interesting activities and make connections with their learning and on top of that, develop the IB learner profile attributes.
