近所の農家さんのところに行き、Sun・Star・Skyクラスで芋掘りをさせていただきました。今年のお芋は不作と聞いていましたが、土の中からは大きなお芋がどっさり…。おばあちゃんに「ここを掘ってみてごらん。」と教えてもらいながら芋掘りを楽しみました。

Sun, Star & Sky classes went to a local farm in the neighborhood and dug sweet potatoes. This year, the potatoes harvested around the community were not good, but ours look good. The children had an enjoyable time with the help of the farmers and teachers saying, “Let’s dig out the potatoes.”

子どもたちは掘ったお芋の数を数えたり友だちと大きさを比べながら大満足。お芋は袋に入れて園まで子どもたちが持ち帰りました。「重たい！」と言いながら、自分で掘ったお芋を誇らしく持ち帰る子どもたちの姿に成長を感じた１日でした。

The children were very satisfied while counting the number of potatoes they dug and compared the sizes with their friends. The potatoes were put in a bag and brought back to the preschool by the children. The children proudly held on to their harvest as they walked back saying, “The potatoes are heavy!”

園に持ち帰ったお芋は子どもたちが土を落とし天日で乾かしています。

The potatoes were brushed off by the children and dried in the sun to make them sweet and yummy.

We are thankful to the farmers for the love they put into planting the potatoes this year. What a great harvest! 😊
